In the beautiful sun drenched gated Monterra community of Monterey this vacant sloping lot was ready for a new home. The clients were wanting a simplistic home with traditional features, single story and Spanish/Mediterranean style. The challenge on this project was the sloping lot. We overcame this obstacle with the use of several retaining walls around the motor court as well as rear terrace planter walls to soften grade changes. The interaction of outdoor indoor living was an important part of the design.
